Middleton Rotary Club has presented the town with five new planters to mark its upcoming 90th birthday.
The planters, situated between Middleton Gardens and Tesco car park, provide a welcome burst of colour in an otherwise rather stark area of tarmac.
Three Middleton groups came together on the project, Middleton Round Table sharing the cost with Rotary, and Middleton In Bloom sourcing the flowers.
Ash Timber provided sponsorship and constructed the planters with Tesco sponsoring the necessary compost.
Rotary president Janice Sawle said she was very proud of the 90 years’ service given to the town by Rotarians and that she was pleased that other community groups would be filling the planters year on year.
Round Table president Mitchell Peacock said that the cooperation between the two clubs made possible a range of exciting projects for the people of the town, including the upcoming Middfest.
Middleton In Bloom, represented by Keeley O’Mara, said colourful displays made people who saw them happy and that the aim of all the groups was to make the town a beautiful place to be.
