Man's body pulled out of Hollingworth Lake

A man’s body has been recovered from Hollingworth Lake today (Wednesday 11 December).

Emergency services attended the scene mid-afternoon, who worked together with a coastguard to remove the body from the water.

At this early stage, formal identification is yet to take place, but police have confirmed that there are no suspicious circumstances connected to the man’s death.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Today (Wednesday 11 November 2024) emergency services responded to reports of a concern for welfare at Hollingworth Lake.

“A search operation took place with emergency services, including the Coastguard, at the scene.

Sadly, the body of a man was recovered from the water. There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

“Formal identification is yet to have taken place and our enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and inform his next of kin.

“People are kindly asked to please avoid the area at this time.”
