Rochdale Under 12s 5 – 12 Poynton Under 12s

Rochdale Under 12s took on the Ponyton Under 12s team in the Northern Flags Lacrosse Finals this morning (Saturday 26 April).

Rochdale started strong and took the lead early and quickly followed with a second goal.

After a mistakes by both teams, Poynton fought back and pulled themselves into the game scoring to make it 2-1.

Rochdale were issued with an illegal procedure for playing without using the stick. This cost them as Poynton scored their second goal of the game.

Rochdale took the lead with one minute to go before the end of the first quarter.

The start of the second quarter saw Rochdale start with an illegal procedure and not long after, Poynton followed Rochdale’s example with a foul.

Poynton scored their third goal of the game bringing the score level at 3-3.

Rochdale quickly fought back but missed a goal that would have taken them back into the lead.

Poynton lost player for one minute after he tripped a Rochdale player but they didn’t let it affect them quickly managing to score their fourth and fifth goals of the game.

The start of the third quarter saw Poynton take the lead.

Rochdale’s coaches could be heard on the sidelines giving their team a much-needed pep talk. The talk must have worked as Rochdale opened the third quarter with a goal bringing the score to 4-5.

Poynton then hit back with another goal and took the lead, scoring three goals in the third quarter.

The final quarter saw Poynton extend their lead.

Rochdale started the quarter strong by taking the score to 5-8 but they were unable to stop Poynton who continued to score throughout the final quarter.

With six minutes of the game left, the score was 5-11 to Poynton. Poynton scored the final goal with one minute of the game left taking the
score to 5-12.
