Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club
On Saturday 5 November, there was a national Topper event for the North at Leigh and Lowton Sailing Club in very changeable weather. With 52 boats competing, Jasper Bramwell, a junior member at Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club, sailed to fifth place overall, including race placing of second and third which is excellent. His brother Xavier, less experienced at big events, finished well placed at 32nd.
It was a relatively miserable day at the lake on Sunday 6 November with a light westerly wind. Two races were sailed and both were won by Martin Brennan in his Solo. He had strong competition from Tom Daniel in a Laser who was unable to find a way to gain the lead. In the second race these two were so engrossed in their battle that Ryan Richards (Laser) was handed the lead which he subsequently lost, coming in third.
