The Crimble Midnight Walk for Springhill Hospice

A group of Crimble employees have committed themselves to joining a midnight walk on Saturday 14 July, in aid of Springhill Hospice. The walk will pay tribute to their manager, who recently passed away.

The team, led by General Manager Chris Lowe and Assistant Manager Gaynor Walton, currently consists of 27 colleagues who will be dressing up and walking the 13 mile course, which will take them through Middleton, Heywood, Hopwood, Rhodes and Castleton.

Springhill Hospice provides specialist care for people with life-limiting illnesses, throughout the Rochdale Borough and surrounding areas. In addition to services for patients, care is extended to their carers and families. This charity has come to the forefront of thoughts at the Crimble, due to the passing of the Crimble's deputy manager Mike Hanson, who was cared for at Springhill Hospice during the last few days of his life.

Chris Lowe and Gaynor Walton, management at the Crimble said: “Mike was a well known face at the Crimble, spending more than 30 years employed here. Due to his length of service mike knew many of our guests very well and his presence on the restaurant floor is missed by many of his colleagues and our guests alike.”

The Crimble team hope to raise upwards of £3,000 to help support the incredible work done by Springhill Hospice, who rely upon charitable donations to provide essential services to their patients and families.

The Crimble also supports Marie Curie Cancer Care, who hosts monthly counselling sessions in the Peacock Room. The annual Great Tea Party was this year supported by nearly 200 guests, raising a staggering £3449. As a result of the success of the Tea Party, the Peacock Room has today (21 June) held its first Royal Ascot Ladies Day luncheon and afternoon tea. The auction and funds generated from the ticket sales helped to raise much needed funds for Marie Curie. Auction lots were donated from Rochdale businesses, such as Jamilla Paul's and Denis Hope's.
