Date published: 12 November 2024

Police are appealing for assistance to identify a man they believe could assist in the investigation of a reported sexual offence that occurred at a bus stop on Bury New Road, Heywood.

The incident reportedly took place on Saturday (26 October) at approximately 6.45pm.

According to police, a woman was waiting at the bus stop when a man allegedly approached her and made sexually inappropriate comments.

Officers say they have been pursuing several lines of enquiry in the days since the report and are now calling on members of the public who may have information.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "We are keen to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen anything suspicious.”

Officers are urging anyone who may have been on or near Bury New Road at around 6:45 pm on the evening of 26 October to come forward, particularly if they recall seeing any unusual behaviour.

People with information are asked to call 0161 856 8726 and reference Log 1497 of 27/10/2024.

Alternatively, those who wish to remain anonymous can contact Crimestoppers, an independent charity, on 0800 555 111.
