Date published: 18 December 2024

A man wanted in connection with multiple offences in Rochdale has been arrested and sentenced following a string of incidents across the town.

Kurtis Jones was apprehended by officers on Friday (13 December), and subsequently interviewed before being charged and remanded. Jones’ offences took place at various locations within Rochdale, including incidents of shoplifting, theft, and an attempted robbery.

Among the offences, Jones was charged with shoplifting at River Island in Rochdale Town Centre and possessing class B drugs, specifically cannabis.

He was also found responsible for theft from a motor vehicle at Rochdale Bus Interchange.

Further incidents occurred at The Range in Kingsway Retail Park. Jones was charged with shoplifting on three separate occasions at the store, taking place on 11 November, 15 November, and 18 November 2024. He was also charged with attempted robbery and a public order offence at the same location.

Jones appeared before Manchester Magistrates’ Court the following day, where he received an eight-week custodial sentence.

In addition to the prison term, he was ordered to pay court fees and £200 in compensation.

The swift action by officers and subsequent court ruling brings resolution to the series of offences impacting key locations in Rochdale.
