Police charge three men in modern slavery and drug investigation in Rochdale

Date published: 16 October 2024

Greater Manchester Police has brought charges against three men following an investigation into an alleged organised crime group (OCG) suspected of exploiting vulnerable adults in Rochdale to facilitate the sale of drugs.

Andrew O’Reilly, 38, of Rochdale Road, Royton, and Adam Hill, 36, of Redcross Street, Rochdale, have both been charged with two counts of modern slavery offences and involvement in the supply of Class A drugs.

Connor Beale, 28, of Ashbrook Crescent, Rochdale, faces one count of modern slavery offences, involvement in the supply of Class A drugs, and possession of Class B and C drugs.

All three men have been remanded in custody and are awaiting their next court hearing.

The charges mark a significant step in GMP’s ongoing efforts to tackle exploitation and modern slavery in the region, as part of wider initiatives to combat organised crime and the illegal drug trade.

A spokesperson for GMP reaffirmed the force's commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals and dismantling criminal networks operating in the area.

Further court proceedings are expected in the coming weeks.
