Littleborough Brass Band shines in national brass band championships

Date published: 28 September 2024

Littleborough Brass Band proudly secured 4th place in the Fourth Section at the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain, held at Cheltenham Racecourse. The event, which took place on Sunday, 15 September, marked another fantastic milestone in what has been an outstanding and busy year for the band so far.

Having worked tirelessly over the summer months to prepare for the competition, the result reflects the hard work of the members and their conductor, Ashley Higgins.

The result at Cheltenham follows several strong results for the band, including a second-place finish at the north west areas, first place at the Holme Valley Contest in April, and six placings at the Whit Friday March contests, including three first places.

The band is "incredibly proud" of its achievements and to be able to represent the village at a national level. The continued support of the local community enables them, they say, to provide music-making opportunities for all in a friendly, supportive environment, as well as to support community events throughout the year.

Looking ahead, Littleborough Brass Band, alongside Boro’ Brass, is now gearing up for their next event, a concert themed around musical theatre, which will take place on 5 October at St Andrew’s Church in Dearnley.

As a thriving community organisation, Littleborough Brass Band is always open to new players of all ages and abilities. Whether you’re a seasoned musician or a complete beginner, the band welcomes you to join them on their musical journey.
