Memorial garden party at Stamford House in memory of long-serving manager

Date published: 27 September 2024

A garden party at Stamford House Care Home in Rochdale took place on 28 August 2024 to honour the memory of Sheila Runane, a beloved manager who dedicated 26 years of service to the home.

The event was marked by the presence of the mayor of Rochdale, who unveiled a memorial plaque in her name.

Sheila Runane, who sadly passed away earlier this year, was fondly remembered by residents, staff, and visitors alike. The garden party was organised as a tribute to her lasting contributions to Stamford House and the wider Rochdale community.

Michelle King, one of the event’s organisers, commented: "Everyone who attended the garden party really enjoyed the day. We also had a singer, Gary Lockett, performing in the afternoon, and to finish the event, a local ice cream van came by for everyone to enjoy a treat."

The event, which brought together the care home residents, staff, and the community, was seen as a fitting tribute to Sheila's many years of dedication. Michelle added, "This was a good event for Rochdale, with the care home being part of the community here. Most of the people we support enjoyed the party and the buffet very much."

The memorial plaque unveiled by the mayor serves as a lasting reminder of Sheila Runane’s dedication and the impact she had on those at Stamford House.
