Youth celebrated for community efforts at EncouragingYou awards ceremony

Date published: 13 September 2024

Rochdale-based youth organisation EncouragingYou recently held a highly successful awards ceremony, attracting over 100 attendees, mostly young people.

The event recognised the hard work and dedication of volunteers involved in various community projects and charitable endeavours throughout the year.

Among the distinguished guests were local councillors, the mayor, and other notable figures, all of whom came together to celebrate the positive impact made by Rochdale’s youth.

EncouragingYou has been a vibrant force in the community, spearheading initiatives such as National Citizen Service (NCS) Residentials, community projects, sports tournaments, and charity work.

They also organised a highly popular community festival earlier this year. The organisation's overarching goal is to provide more opportunities for personal development and community involvement for young people in Rochdale.

Speaking on the success of the awards event, Saddam, the founder of EncouragingYou, expressed his excitement about the growth and impact of the organisation. He said: "EncouragingYou has had a really great year.

“It's awesome to see so many people, especially young folks, getting involved. Also, having Hassan on board has been amazing, he’s been doing a fantastic job managing the projects, getting lots of young people engaged. I'm excited to see what's coming next for EncouragingYou."

Several young individuals were honoured for their exceptional contributions, including Tayyub Liaqat and Ismael Ahmed, who at just 16 years old were recognised for providing free haircuts to refugees.

Zaeem Ahmed, Mohammed Izraf, Mohammed Waqas, and Zubair Zahid were also celebrated for their volunteer efforts at local events, such as the community festival and family fun days.

Local businesses that have supported EncouragingYou's work were also acknowledged for their sponsorships.

These included The Rochdale Kebab House, Ballers Kitchen, Cocos Grill House, Knockout Kitchens, Worldwide Cash & Carry, Magic Moments, and Mobs Deli. Their support has been instrumental in bringing community projects to life and fostering youth engagement in the area.

EncouragingYou's commitment to empowering Rochdale’s youth is set to continue with a series of new initiatives aimed at further strengthening community ties and offering even more opportunities for young people to get involved.

This year’s awards have certainly cemented EncouragingYou’s role as a driving force for positive change in the local community.
