Police attend second Middleton armed robbery in a week

Date published: 15 August 2024

Police descended onto Middleton’s town centre again yesterday morning (14 August) in response to reports of an armed robbery.

The incident occurred at around 9.20am on Middleton Gardens, prompting a swift response from Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

This follows news from Monday that a robber made off with cash from a Middleton shop

In the most recent incident, officers were alerted to the robbery at the Halifax bank on Middleton Gardens. The bank’s doors are locked, and patrons are being redirected elsewhere.

At this point, GMP has not disclosed additional details about the incident. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to gather further information.

There is no indication as to whether the robberies are connected, but officers have attended two in Middleton in one week.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 9.20am today, officers responded to reports of a robbery in Middleton Gardens, Middleton. No injuries were reported.

"No arrests have been made. Enquiries are ongoing."
