Date published: 15 August 2024

Rochdale's Champness Hall buzzed with laughter on Friday night as Gary Delaney headlined a comedy extravaganza to launch the Feel Good Weekend. Organised by Ace Lips Comedy in collaboration with What’s Occurrin Rochdale, the event was a resounding triumph, filling the venue with mirth and merriment.

The evening kicked off with a vibrant performance from Steve Shanyaski, whose energetic and witty routine had the audience in stitches from beginning to end. His charismatic delivery set an upbeat tone for the night, ensuring that laughter was a constant companion throughout the event.

Following Shanyaski, Shazia Mirza took to the stage, delivering a unique blend of humour infused with her perspective as an Asian woman. Her insightful and hilarious commentary had the sold-out crowd of 400 in fits of laughter, truly capturing the essence of her distinctive comedic style.

Dave Twentyman, renowned for his engaging presence, served as the compère for the evening. His quick-witted interactions and ability to keep the energy levels high ensured that the audience remained thoroughly entertained from start to finish.

The highlight of the night was undoubtedly Gary Delaney. Famous for his sharp one-liners, puns, and astute observational comedy, Delaney captivated the audience with a performance that was nothing short of a masterclass in comedy. His routine left everyone laughing long after the final curtain call.

In addition to the stellar entertainment, the event also had a charitable touch. Generosity from the audience resulted in over £250 being raised for Springhill Hospice.

Overall, the evening proved to be a fantastic showcase of comedic talent at a venue often underused.
