Police taped off an area after a woman was reportedly sexually assaulted in Middleton.
Officers were called to the scene on Boarshaw Road in the early hours of the morning yesterday (Sunday 28 July) following 'reports of concern for the welfare of a woman'.
A cordon was put in place around an area off the main road. The taped-off area was near the junction with Bardsley Street.
Officers believe the woman had been sexually assaulted, and she is currently receiving support from specialist officers.
No arrests have been made yet.
In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At 12:30am yesterday (28 July) we were called to reports of concerns for welfare of a woman on Boarshaw Road in Middleton. It’s believed that a woman was sexually assaulted.
"She is being supported by specially trained officers, and a scene is in place whilst we conduct further enquiries. No arrests have been made at this stage.
"Anyone with any information is asked to call 101 quoting log 95 of 28/07/24. Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
