Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected across the entirety of the north west and most of England on Saturday (8 July).
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning which is in place from 9am to 11.59pm.
The Met Office says “Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected on Saturday, during the morning mainly over parts of England before becoming mainly focused over northern England and Scotland by late afternoon/evening.
“Some intense downpours are likely and whilst rainfall accumulations will vary from place to place, as much as 50mm of rain could fall in a short space of time in some locations. Hail, lightning and gusty winds will be additional hazards.”
The warning covers most of Scotland, the north west and the north east down to Worcester, Oxford and London.
