Rochdale: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To maintain essential deliveries to building works at Kingsway Park High School.
Expected start and finish: Monday 2 January 2023 – Thursday 31 August 2023.
Restriction and location:
Temporary prohibition of parking on Stiups Lane at the following points:

• The west side from its junction with Turfhill Road for a distance of 50 metres in a north easterly direction
• The east side, from a point 50 metres from its junction with Turfhill Road for a distance of 20 metres in a north easterly direction

Alternative route: Not applicable.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To replace a waste water manhole cover in the road.
Expected start and finish: Saturday 27 May 2023 – Friday 23 June 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Chesham Avenue, from a point 156 metres of its junction with Manchester Road for a distance of 30 metres in a westerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for traffic will be Manchester Road, Thornham New Road and Chatburn Avenue.

Expected start and finish: Monday 29 May 2023 – Monday 26 June 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Greenvale, for its entire length.
Alternative route: The alternative route will be signed on street when the closure is in place.

Reason: To install new traffic calming measures in the road.
Expected start and finish: Monday 5 June 2023 – Friday 23 June 2023.

Temporary rolling closures of the following roads:

• Vivian Street

Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be signed on site.

Restriction and location:

• Temporary closure of Hargreaves Street and Manley Road, for the full length of both roads.
• Residential access will be maintained.

Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is Manchester Road and Bolton Road.

Restriction and location: Temporary prohibition of parking along Northdene Drive for its entire length, from its junction with Bamford Way to the end.

• Roe Street, for its entire length
• Woodstock Street, for its entire length
• Blair Street, for its entire length
• Rooley Street, for its entire length
• Preston Street, for its entire length
• Edenfield Street, for its entire length
• Thrush Street, for its entire length
• Marleborough Street, for its entire length
• Blenheim Street, for its entire length

Alternative route: The alternative routes for vehicles will be signed on site. Residential access will be maintained.

Restriction and location: Temporary prohibition of waiting at any time on the southerly side of Bolton Road and Rochdale Road East, from the junction with Manley Road to a point 1,074 metres in a westerly direction.

Reason: To install telecommunications ducting in the carriageway.

Restriction and location: Temporary suspension of the cycle lane on Mellor Street from a point 226 metres south of its junction with Bridgefold Road for a distance of 118 metres in a northerly direction.

Reason: To maintain the free flow of traffic along Bolton Road while Eid prayers are being held.
Expected start and finish: 6am – 11am on Wednesday 28 June 2023 and Thursday 29 June 2023.
Restriction and location: Waiting will be temporarily prohibited on both sides of Bolton Road, from its junction with Marland Fold for a distance of 150 metres in a south westerly direction.

• Temporary suspension of the one-way system on Milne Street. Vehicles will be able to travel in both directions.
• Temporary closure of part of Milne Street, from its junction with Manchester Road for a distance of 10 metres in an easterly direction.

Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Rothay Drive, from its junction with Bonscale Crescent for its entire length.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles.

Reason: To facilitate the construction of a new site entrance.
Expected start and finish: Monday 15 May 2023 - Monday 26 June 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporarily suspend the mandatory cycle on the west side of Hollin Lane from a point 37 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive to its junction with Oaken Bank Road.

Heywood: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Heywood
Reason: To carry out electrical works in the road.
Expected start and finish: Tuesday 13 June 2023 – Tuesday 4 July 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Pilsworth Road, from its junction with Broadfield Street for a distance of 165 metres in a southerly direction, to the entrance of Broadfield Business Park.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is Pilsworth Road, Moss Hall Road, Heap Brow, Bury New Road, Bury Street and Bridge Street.

Reason: To repair a leaking water main in the road.
Expected start and finish: Wednesday 14 June 2023 – Wednesday 5 July 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Glamis Avenue, from its junction with Middleton Road for a distance of 30 metres in an easterly direction.

Reason: To hold the Darnhill Festival Parade.
Expected start and finish: 11.30am – 1.15pm, Saturday 1 July 2023.
Restriction and location:
Temporary closure of the following roads:

• Argyle Street, from its easterly junction with Sutherland Road to its westerly junction with Sutherland Road.
• Argyle Parade, for its entire length.
• Sutherland Road, from its easterly junction with Argyle Street to its westerly junction with Argyle Street.

Alternative route: Due to the nature and duration of the event, it's not necessary for alternative routes to be in place.

Area: Heywood
Reason: To install a new water main.
Expected start and finish: Friday 14 July 2023 – Tuesday 15 August 2023.
Restriction and location:

• Temporary one-way working along Airborne Way, from its junction with Pilsworth Road to its junction with Manchester Road. Vehicles won't be able to travel in a north westerly direction between these points.
• Vehicles won't be able to turn right from Hill Top Road onto Airborne Way.
• Vehicles won't be able to turn left or right from Manchester Road onto Airborne Way.

Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Manchester Road, Manchester Street, Church Street, L/Cpl Stephen Shaw MC Way, Market Place, Market Street, Bridge Street and Pilsworth Road.

Pennines: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Pennines
Reason: To facilitate access for heavy equipment and machinery.
Expected start and finish: Monday 10 April 2023 – Tuesday 10 October 2023.
Restriction and location:
Prohibition of waiting for vehicles at any time along:

• Riverstone Bridge, both sides for its entire length.
• Railway Street, both sides from its junction with Peel Street for the remainder of its length in a south westerly direction.

Reason: To repair sewers in the road.
Expected start and finish: Thursday 22 June 2023 – Monday 26 June 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Stone Street, from a point 17 metres south west of its junction with Newhey Road for a distance of 13 metres in a south westerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Stone Street, Newhey Road, Leach Street and Stonefield Street.

Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles. Access will be provided if required and safe to do so.
