Man arrested after dawn raid sees police recover cash and drugs in Heywood

Date published: 16 June 2023

A man from Heywood has been arrested after a dawn raid led to recovery of cash and drugs on Friday morning (16 June).

Police executed a warrant at 7am at South Avenue in Heywood, where they seized thousands of pounds of cash, Class A drugs, drugs paraphernalia such as scales with residue on, suspected to be cocaine, unused snap bags, and multiple mobile phones – all consistent with a drugs operation.

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs. He remains in police custody for questioning.

Sergeant Jay Uppal from GMP Rochdale district said: “This was a great result for our neighbourhood team and is all part of our fight to remove dangerous and illegal substances from our streets.

"Our officers are dedicated to fighting crime, whether that's acting on intelligence to execute warrants or proactively patrolling areas, they are working flat out to keep the community safe."
