A personal trainer originally from Wardle has been cast in a modern retelling of the classic novel Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
Matt Nuttall, 43, who now lives in Marbella, Spain, has been cast in ‘Mr Hyde: The Untold Story’, written and directed by Dan Brothers, of DB13 Productions.
‘Mr Hyde’ is a modern twist on the classic 1886 novella ‘Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’ by Robert Louis Stevenson, who also wrote Treasure Island. The story sees Dr Jekyll transform into his evil alter-ego, Mr Hyde, which ultimately leads to their downfall.
The Dan Brothers retelling asks: “What if everything you've heard about Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde has been a lie? This is the untold story of an imprisoned Mr Hyde who desires simply to be free to live his life as Dr Jekyll lives his.”
Matt, a personal trainer of over 20 years who has worked with various celebrities and professional footballers, has been cast as Freddie, who he describes as “a hard man/bodyguard. He’s a ruthless criminal who is also a bit of a psychopath!”
The role of Freddie is Matt’s first speaking role in a film, having had a background role in one of the Rise of the Footsoldier films and a television appearance alongside Helen Skelton.
Matt also writes a monthly column for a magazine in Marbella as their resident fitness expert.
Matt said: “Around five years ago I got a job alongside Helen Skelton on the ITV Tonight show, discussing calories and the amount of exercise needed to burn them.
“After this, I was advised by the executive producer to try for more work like this, so I joined a site to look for more work. This led to some film students from Salford University reaching out and asking if I would audition in a short film. I fell in love with filming and wanted to do it again.
“I had a couple of jobs, including an advert with my wife for a local property company which was shown on A Place in the Sun on Channel 4, and a background role in one of the Rise of the Footsoldier movies, and I’ve now secured my first-ever speaking role and full character.”
He added: “I’ll be working alongside seasoned actors and I cannot wait to get stuck in. My character is a heavy villain type who is not to be messed with.”
Mr Hyde: The Untold Story also stars Rachel Warren (Rise of the Footsoldier), Amber Doig-Thorne (Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey), Scott Rees (Out for Vengeance) and Jake Cornish (Love Island) amongst many others.
Filming begins in June and the film is expected to be released in 2023.
