Date published: 26 May 2023

Kentmere Academy and Nursery has achieved the One Education Reading Award in gold.

The One Education Reading Award illustrates - to all staff, children, visitors and stakeholders - the commitment and knowledge schools show in building a successful reading curriculum.

The award shows how Kentmere has focused on providing children with the skills, passion, and enthusiasm needed for reading.

The assessor noted: “This accreditation is testament to your hard work in making reading a true priority. Your evidence clearly shows that you have fulfilled the requirements for the gold award. “You have built an amazing reading curriculum and there is much to celebrate, particularly your beautiful reading environments and dedication to helping all children see themselves as readers.

“The award shows how you have focused on providing children with the skills, the passion, and the enthusiasm needed for reading.”

Jess Heginbotham and Claire Moseley, English leaders at Kentmere, said: “We are thrilled to have achieved this award to recognise the work we have put into developing our reading curriculum and environment.

“Reading underpins everything we do here at Kentmere, and we are passionate about instilling a lifelong love of reading in our children.”
