Rotary Middleton’s Schools Spring Art Challenge 2023

Date published: 21 May 2023

Children from three Middleton Primary Schools have had their publicly displayed after taking part in Rotary Middleton’s Art Challenge.

Working with partners Middleton Shopping Centre, the challenge was open to pupils from Year Five classes at Boarshaw Community Primary School, St Michael’s CE Primary School, and St John Fisher Primary School.

The work of the pupils – with the theme ‘Spring’ – has been on display for the public for the last two weeks in one of the shopping centre’s units.

Rotary Middleton members took great care to make sure all the works of art were carefully mounted and ready for presentation.

As a bonus, children visiting the exhibition could collect a book free of charge too.

Rotary Middleton is keen to promote the arts within our local schools and was delighted with the quality of work achieved.  Rotary Middleton is also passionate about encouraging reading in children, hence the free book giveaway.

Rotary Middleton President Lee Wolf said: “The quality of work produced by our young people is quite outstanding and we hope to make this an annual event.”

His words were echoed by Middleton Shopping Centre Manager Marie Gribben, who said: “We are delighted to see this impressive display in our centre, and it truly reflects the talent of the young people of Middleton.”
