Deeplish Community Centre staff undergo training to provide free blood pressure checks

Date published: 20 May 2023

The Deeplish Community Centre team has undergone training to provide free blood pressure checks for local residents.

The community centre is partnered with Living Well to provide its health checks, and a successful training session was held at the community centre on Friday 12 May.

Free blood pressure monitors, training and advice were provided so that staff are able to support people with their blood pressure checks, as well as signpost people to their local GP or other health and wellbeing professionals.

Sohail Ahmad, operations manager at Deeplish Community Centre, said: “We are committed to providing health and wellbeing support through Deeplish Community Centre and addressing health inequalities faced by people in our neighbourhoods.

“We are working with public health and other voluntary and community organisations to support people during difficult times. Due to the high level of coronary heart disease in our neighbourhood, we would like to offer blood pressure checks, free information and access to health and wellbeing activities and events at the centre.

“We offer weekly welfare, wellbeing and energy advice sessions as well as youth clubs and Saturday sessions to support our children, young people and senior citizens.

“We look forward to offering our health and wellbeing sessions to support residents in our neighbourhood.”
