A fundraiser for Madina Masjid in Newbold has raised over £3,000 after the mosque was broken into and vandalised.
The Church Street mosque was broken into during the early hours of 9 May, with several items taken and destroyed.
The damage to internal areas and doors is beyond repair, meaning expensive emergency replacements are needed.
It is understood to be the third time the mosque has been targeted and vandalised.
The fundraiser page, which aims to raise £10,000 towards repairs, says: “We are appealing for donations to help us get our Masjid back to normality.”
Madina Mosque has been contacted for more information and comment.
A spokesperson for the police said: "GMP is currently investigating a burglary on Church Street that is believed to have happened on Tuesday 9 May 2023 at around 5am.
"No arrests have been made at this time.
"Any information to help officers with their enquiries can be shared by calling 101 quoting incident number 383 of 09/05/2023."
