Two colleagues of a Rochdale-based recruitment business have raised hundreds of pounds for Springhill Hospice and Andy’s Man Club after taking part in the Manchester Marathon.

Carl Bennion, director of Precision Recruitment Group, and labour manager Chris Elliott took on the 26.2 miles race on Sunday 16 April, completing the distance in five hours and 13 minutes, and three hours and 28 minutes, respectively.

This year's efforts saw the pair raise £800 for Springhill, and £500 for Andy's Man Club.

Speaking before the race, Chris said: “Carl came along and met me at the finish line last year.

“He said he would run the next one with me so there's no letting him off. For my first marathon last year, I got a reasonable time of 03:57, so I will be looking to beat that this year, but might prove difficult carrying Carl on my back!

“It was a brilliant experience last year and there was great camaraderie and support amongst all the runners taking part.”

Springhill Hospice provides specialist palliative care services, whilst Andy’s Man Club is a powerful talking group, providing men with a safe space to openly discuss their worries and mental health concerns.
