Spritzer’s Easter Egg Challenge: rescue cat collecting Easter eggs for Fairfield Hospital

Date published: 05 March 2023

A cat who regularly visits Fairfield Hospital is once again helping to collect Easter eggs for patients and staff.

Rescue cat Spritzer and her owner Heléna Abrahams have run ‘Spritzer’s Easter Egg Challenge’ for the last few years, collecting chocolate eggs for the patients at Fairfield.

After going missing one day several years ago, Heléna – who has been leading the ‘Gizmo’s Legacy’ campaign for local authorities to check all cats killed or injured on the roads for a microchip - fit the tuxedo cat with a tracker – where it was discovered Spritzer was visiting the mental health ward at Fairfield, and staff and patients alike love her.

The black and white rescue cat has become a firm favourite at the hospital, where she spends her days visiting patients on the mental health ward, and documenting her adventures on social media.

For several years, Heléna and Spritzer have used the kitty’s fame to collect Easter eggs for the hospital with supermarkets in Heywood and Bury hosting donation points before Heléna and her group collect the eggs for delivery.

Heléna is hoping to collect as many eggs as possible this year, working with Morrisons Heywood, Morrisons Whitefield, Poundland Bury and the Food Warehouse Pilsworth.

Easter eggs can be dropped in specified trolleys at any of the above supermarkets, or cash donations can made directly to Heléna via PayPal: helenaabrahams@hotmail.com
