Places in Rochdale to keep warm as temperatures plummet

Date published: 10 January 2025

Councils, voluntary organisations and businesses across Greater Manchester are opening their doors to people who need to keep warm as temperatures plummet amid the current cold snap.

Snow, freezing temperature and fog and caused travel chaos across the region, with more bad weather on the way, forcing several schools to close.

Travel disruption on roads and public public transport is expected to continue with temperatures barely getting above freezing during the next few days.

A spokesperson at Transport for Greater Manchester advised people travelling to plan ahead and check before they travel and take extra care.

“Roads and pavements could be icy, making driving conditions difficult and impacting journey times,” they said. “There may also be some disruption to transport services.”
