£2,500 raised for the Rochdale AFC Military Veterans

Date published: 12 April 2022

A gruelling 43-mile walk from Rochdale to Blackpool has raised a staggering £2,500 for the Rochdale AFC Military Veterans.

A team of 12 – comprised of Rochdale AFC Military Veterans, Their4U Fundraising and Dale In The Community Sports Trust – completed the feat between the Crown Oil Arena and Blackpool Tower after 17 hours.

Now the team has carried out the final donation count from the walk, raising two-and-a-half times their original £1,000 target.

The money raised will go towards engaging veterans in different groups, sports, activities, days out and even help for any emergency equipment needed.

A cheque for £2,500 was presented to John Keogh, captain of Rochdale AFC Military Veterans and director of Bluebird Care Rochdale, by Adam Trennery, director of Their4U Fundraising and manager of Rochdale AFC Military Veterans, on Monday (11 April).

Mr Trennery, himself a former Royal Navy Engineer, said: “We are absolutely overwhelmed that we managed to raise a fantastic £2,500 for Rochdale AFC Military Veterans.

“A massive thank you to everyone who took part in this mammoth challenge and especially to everyone who donated; your generosity is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.”
