Lacing up for new Co-operative community project Finding Her Feet

Date published: 04 March 2022

A new community partnership project will empower local women to explore the great outdoors this year.

‘Finding Her Feet’ has been chosen as one of Milnrow Co-op’s local causes. It is a partnership project between the Co-operative Heritage Trust, Rochdale Connections Trust and Due North Events.

Rochdale Connections Trust has been supporting victims of domestic violence in the borough for 25 years whilst Due North Events specialise in inspiring communities to understand and explore the outdoors, regardless of background or culture.

Working together with the Co-operative Heritage Trust all partners and participants involved in Finding Her Feet will inspire and develop confidence through the co-op principle of ‘self-help’, and sense of responsibility for the natural world.

Every woman taking part will have experienced trauma and this project aims to bring them together and inspire them to find their feet again though peer support, sharing skills, lacing up their hiking boots and exploring incredible local countryside. It’s an opportunity for the group to set new challenges and achieve new heights through the renewed confidence of group activities for health and wellbeing.

Every time members shop at the Co-op, 2% of what they spend on selected own-brand products and services goes to the Co-op Local Causes Fund, supporting local community causes.

Shoppers at Milnrow – or any Co-op within a 15-mile radius – can opt for their 2% to support Finding Her Feet by simply going to https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/64943 and clicking ‘support this cause’.

If you’re not a member of the Co-op or live too far away, you can donate directly by scanning the QR code included in this article, or donate online via the Co-operative Heritage website.
