Take Your Pickers clean up Newhey

Date published: 29 May 2021

Milnrow and District Volunteer litter pickers were out again in force on Sunday 23 May.

Volunteers tackled areas of Newhey spreading out from the bus terminus on Shaw Road. Nine Take Your Pickers were out and in an hour collected over 10 full bags of litter from the streets, leaving Newhey looking a little smarter.

Helen Aldcroft said: “We are always looking for volunteers who are prepared to give an hour once a month. Equipment and high vis are all provided. Ask to join our FB page if this community spirited group is something you feel you would like to be part of.”

Milnrow and Newhey Take Your Pick meets once a month to tackle a ‘grot spot’ area of the villages, usually on the last Sunday of the month.

All volunteers are welcome; new volunteers should ask to join the group's Facebook page, where all information is posted.

If you live in a different part of the borough and want to help make your local area cleaner and greener, you can now hire a litter picking kit from Rochdale Borough Council.
