Get together, get active and help change young lives for BBC Children In Need

Date published: 25 September 2019

BBC Children in Need Schools’ Ambassador, Joe Wicks, The Body Coach, is calling on schoolchildren in Rochdale to get together and fundraise for BBC Children in Need.

This year, Joe is challenging pupils and teachers to get together and raise even more money to help change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people right across the UK.

Schools that request their free supporter kit before Friday 27 September will be in with the chance of receiving a very special visit from Joe himself, as part of his Schools Tour. The tour will see The Body Coach visit ten lucky UK schools ahead of BBC Children in Need’s 2019 Appeal, where he will run a mini workout session designed specifically for students and teachers.

Joe Wicks said: “I am incredibly proud to be BBC Children in Need’s first ever Schools’ Ambassador, it really is an honour. As a dad, I am passionate about children’s health, wellbeing and happiness and hope that by inspiring children to get together, and get active, we can make a real and lasting impact. There is something amazing about children coming together to help other children, and I can’t wait to see schoolchildren up and down the UK once again get together and go the extra mile to make a difference.”

To inspire thousands of schoolchildren and teachers to fundraise for the charity, BBC Children in Need and Twinkl – the charity’s Official Education Partner – have created three unique supporter kits for early years foundation stage (EYFS), primary school and secondary school age groups. They include:

Early years foundation stage (EYFS)

Supporter kits for nurseries and pre-schools are full of ideas to get littles ones involved in ‘The Great Big Pudsey Day’. Whether it’s dressing up as their favourite character or even spending the day in their PJ’s or comfiest onesie, anything goes. Nurseries and pre-schools can even hold their own yoga session thanks to a specially designed Pudsey Moves video

Primary school

Primary school children are being encouraged to get together and kick-start Appeal Day – Friday 15 November – by taking part in Big Morning Moves, which will be hosted by Joe Wicks. The activity session has been exclusively created for primary schools and will be available to live stream, or on demand, at a time to suit them. In the run up to the appeal day, primary school pupils can create their own healthy bakes with Joe’s exclusive recipe collection. Pupils can even dress up in fancy dress, or let their imagination run wild with Pudsey craft ideas to sell and help raise funds for BBC Children in Need.

Secondary school

Secondary schools are being asked to get together and put on their own performance of The Personal History of David Copperfield. The exclusive script, written by the legendary director, Armando Iannucci, will give pupils the chance to bring the magic of the big screen into their school and raise funds for BBC Children in Need by selling tickets. Additionally, pupils can also host a bake-off, create their own beauty bar, or even pit teachers against each other with fun fundraising forfeits

Schools can sign-up for a free supporter kit, full of fun-filled fundraising ideas, inspiration, tools, tips and resources via:
