Date published: 19 November 2016

A 36-year-old man is in a life-threatening condition after a black Kia cee’d he was travelling in collided with a barrier on St Mary’s Gate at about 9.30pm on Friday (18 November).

Two other men, both aged 24 and had also been in the car, sustained minor injuries.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

Police Constable Paul Hailwood of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Firstly, I want to extend my thoughts to the family of the man who remains in a critical condition.

“I would urge anyone who was driving in the area at the time and has dash-cam footage to come forward, as you may be able to help our investigation.

“If you saw what happened please contact police as a matter of urgency.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4742, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
