Simon Danczuk launches everyday entrepreneurs inquiry

Rochdale MP, Simon Danczuk, Chairman of the All Party Small Shops Group, has launched a new inquiry looking at the importance of Britain’s everyday entrepreneurs and what they need to thrive.

The Inquiry is calling for evidence on three areas: 

• What skills are needed to facilitate the growth of the next generation of entrepreneurs.
• The positive contribution entrepreneurs make to their local communities and what the government can do to support them.
• Removing barriers to growth and encouraging investment.

Speaking at the launch of the inquiry, Mr Danczuk said: “Too often when we talk about entrepreneurs we think about high tech IT or engineering firms but the roots of the British entrepreneurs are found behind the shop counter or behind the wheel of a van. We must ensure that the contribution of these entrepreneurs to the community and economy is recognised and they supported by the Government to grow and create jobs.”

The inquiry is run by the All Party Parliamentary Small Shops group which will be hosting a number of oral evidence sessions over the coming months and calling for written evidence from stakeholders.

The consultation will run until 17 July and findings of the inquiry will be submitted to the Department Business, Innovation and Skills.
