Mayor & Mayoress in ribbon cutting at Rochdale’s crowning glory

Date published: 19 June 2012

The official opening of a new office development in Rochdale has attracted a lot of interest at a time when the office market is struggling across the region. The speculatively built offices are part of a bigger development at Crown Business Park.

The Mayor & Mayoress of Rochdale officially opened the scheme with a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark completion of the works. The event was hosted by the scheme’s joint developers Capital & Centric Plc and Barnfield Construction agents Nolan Redshaw and Jones Lang LaSalle. The Rochdale Development Agency supported the developers to bring about the development.

The Mayor said: “This is another sign of positive investment in Rochdale. Developers are continuing to show confidence in building fantastic, high quality business locations like this.”

The opening of the offices drew much attention from the property world with Agents commenting that Rochdale now has a good quality offer of small offices within excellent location to the motorway.

Councillor Peter Williams Regeneration Portfolio Holder said “Crown Business Park demonstrates that we have a high quality offer in Rochdale that will provide an excellent opportunity for companies looking for superb accommodation adjacent to A627 and M62 Jct 20.”

The office development has been built to the highest environmental standards being graded as Bream Excellent. The two offices total 15,180sq ft. The scheme secured £3.14m from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and is one of only a handful of speculative schemes in the North West, once again showing confidence by developers to invest in Rochdale.

Tim Heatley, Development Director at Capital & Centric PLC said: “The offices are designed to one of the highest environmental standards to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating, its great to see them completed, they look fantastic.”

John Hudson, Chief Executive of Rochdale Development Agency said: "RDA worked closely with the developers to help them secure part of the funding for the scheme and will continue working with the Agents to bring good quality occupiers."

There has been good interest in the offices and enquiries can be made to Paul Nolan of Nolan Redshaw or Stuart Mair of Jones Lang La Salle letting agents.
