Date published: 15 May 2012

The Institute of Directors North West has extended the deadline for this year’s Director of the Year Awards, following an unprecedented number of entries. Nearly 200 nominations have been made to awards, which close on 17 May.

The awards, whose deadline was extended to Thursday 17 May, will see business directors from around the region compete to win a number of coveted titles. Winners will also be entered into the IoD National Awards held in Pall Mall, London.

This year’s judging panel includes Professor Cary Cooper CBE, Pro Vice Chancellor and Professor of Organisational Psychology and Health at Lancaster University; Dr. Cathy Garner FSS FRSA Principal at Knowledge Economy Innovations; Peter Barton, founder and CEO of Forge Europa; Andrew Carroll Director of Carroll Strategies; and Gary Houghton, Corporate Finance Partner at Baker Tilly.

Now in its ninth year, the award categories wererecently overhauled to celebrate the best of the region’s business talent. New categories include Director of the Year for a Small or Medium Company, and Family Business Director of the Year. The nomination process has also been simplified.

IoD North West Chairman, Tony Attard, who will lead the judging panel said: “The Director of the Year Awards have been a huge success for the past eight years and this year’s event is already proving to be an even bigger success with more entries than ever before. The new categories have been well received so we have decided to extend the deadline to give more businesses the opportunity to enter.”

“There is a lot of great work being done to boost business in the North West, so directors should take this chance to demonstrate and celebrate their success.”

Nominations for the IoD North West Director of the Year Awards close on Thursday 17 May 2012 at 5pm. All nominations must be received online at www.armstrongcraven.com/iod/northwest
