A Middleton mobile phone provider has acquired a Clitheroe-based business telecoms company and created a new division.
MID Communications, based at Stakehill Industrial Park, is an independent franchise of O2 (Telefonica UK Ltd), selling O2 products and services through their retail outlets to private and business customers.
With a focus on mobile communications, MID was keen to expand by offering a complete business telecoms solution to their business customers. In 2019, the company began the hunt to acquire an established business specialising in ‘more than mobile’ solutions such as VoIP and Internet connectivity.
Through a mutual acquaintance, MID Communications was introduced to Alex Abbey, the MD of Apeiron Communications, which had an established customer base providing all aspects of business telecoms.
Alex had seen great success over several years and was also looking to grow.
As a result of 'a perfectly aligned purpose', Apeiron Communications has been acquired by MID, and a new division created called MID Digital Solutions, led by Alex.
The MID Digital Solutions business combines over 30 years of knowledge and experience. By partnering with market-leading strategic suppliers, they are focusing on supporting their customers in three core areas: business mobile, cloud telephony and internet connectivity.
The business has invested in a fleet of electric vehicles and now offers refurbished hardware as part of its customer proposition and sustainable strategy towards its aim to be carbon neutral.
With growth plans over the next two years, MID Digital Solutions is planning a recruitment drive to find the best local expertise as well as creating many jobs and apprenticeships.
MID Digital Solutions Director of Business Alex said: “The decision to sell Apeiron to MID was a no-brainer.
“From my first meeting with MID, it was clear that our vision and purpose was perfectly aligned. Merging with a larger group will allow me to focus on providing business customers with excellent value and the highest levels of service.”
MID Communications CEO Danny Simpson said: “Bringing Alex and Apeiron into the MID Communications family has given us the platform we wanted to expand our business services.
“From previously only offering mobile communications, we can now provide the full suite of products that our customers demand.”
