Skirlaugh 36 – 6 Mayfield

Date published: 02 February 2014

The NWML Mayfield side fielded their strongest team for years as they faced a highly rated Skirlaugh second string.

Skirlaugh made the most of the strong wind in the first half as they ran in four tries without reply.

Skirlaugh continued their dominance in the second half.

Billy Percy scored Mayfield's only try of the game - converted by John Marsland

Despite the scoreline this was a good performance from a Mayfield side playing together for first time the Mayfield - their unfamiliarity with each other on the field was apparent.

There were some good solo performances, with Billy and James Percy standing out in the forwards while Leroy and John Foy were impressive in the backs.

Coaches Anthony Greaves and Craig White were impressed by their charges in both performance and attitude saying that if this continues into the season they see some great games to come.

John Stott got the Man of the Match award for his all round contribution on his return to Mayfield.
