Rochdale: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To repair a high voltage cable in Railway Approach

Expected start and finish: Wednesday 12 February 2025 – Wednesday 5 March 2025, or when complete if sooner.
Restriction and location: Railway Approach: a section has been temporarily closed. The closure starts at the junction with Manchester Road and ends at a point 8 metres away in an easterly direction.
Alternative route: Manchester Road, Samuel Street and Smalley Street.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To repair a burst water mains pipe on Shawclough Road

Expected start and finish: Monday 24 February 2024 – Monday 17 March 2024, or when the works are completed if sooner.
Restriction and location: Shawclough Road: a section has been temporarily closed. The closure starts at the junction with Shawclough Way and ends at the junction with Troughbeck Way.
Alternative route: Shawclough Road, Market Street, Whitworth Road and Bentley Street.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install pedestrian crossing facilities on St Mary's Gate

Expected start and finish: 8pm–5am each night from Wednesday 5 March 2025 – Monday 17 March 2025
Restriction and location: St Mary's Gate (eastbound): a section will be temporarily closed. The closure will begin at the junction with Spotland Road and end at the junction with Whitworth Road.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Whitworth Road, Howard Street, Sheriff Street and Spotland Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install the new cycle way on Manchester Road

Expected start and finish: Monday, 10 March 2025 – Thursday 10 September 2026
Restriction and location: Manchester Road: a temporary speed limit of 30mph will be introduced along a section of this road. This will begin at the junction with Bolton Road and continue to St Mary's Gate in both directions.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To work on water connections in Grasmere Street

Expected start and finish: Friday 21 March 2025 – Monday 31 March 2025
Restriction and location: Grasmere Street: a section will be temporarily closed. The closure will begin at the junction with Whitworth Road and end at a point 66 metres away in a westerly direction.
Alternative route: Whitworth Road, Cronkeyshaw Road and Grouse Street.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To carry out tree pruning on Norden Road

Expected start and finish: Monday 31 March 2025 – Friday 4 April 2025
Restriction and location: Norden Road: part of this road will be temporarily closed. The closure will start at the junction of Norden Road and Bury and Rochdale Old Road and end at a point 295 metres away in a northerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Bury and Rochdale Old Road, War Office Road and Norden Road.


Middleton: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Middleton
Reason: To carry out bridge works - Boothroyden Road

Expected start and finish: Monday 12 August 2024 – Monday 11 August 2025
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of a section of Boothroyden Road. This will start at a point 34 metres south of its junction with Boothroyden Close and continue for a distance of 27 metres in a southerly direction.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles.

Area: Middleton
Reason: Temporary closure of Taylor Street

Expected start and finish: Thursday 23 January 2025 – Sunday 11 May 2025
Restriction and location: Taylor Street: temporary closure of this road, from the junction with Albert Street to the northern end.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles.

Area: Middleton
Reason: To repair a frame and cover in Acresfield Road

Expected start and finish: Monday 10 February 2025 – Monday 3 March 2025 or when the works are complete if sooner.
Restriction and location: Acresfield Road: a section is temporarily closed. The closure begins at a point 110 metres north east of the junction with Stanycliffe Lane and ends at a point 35 metres away in a north easterly direction.

Area: Middleton
Reason: To carry out emergency gas works in the pavement and road of Moss Lane

Expected start and finish: Tuesday 25 February 2025 – Tuesday 18 March 2025 or when the works are complete if sooner.
Restriction and location: Moss Lane: a section is temporarily closed. The closure begins at the junction with Manchester Road and ends at the junction with Lower Green.
Alternative route: Moss Lane, Boardman Fold Road, Mossway and Manchester New Road.

Area: Middleton
Reason: To fix a leaking water main in Mossylea Close

Expected start and finish: Tuesday 25 February 2025 – Tuesday 18 March 2025 or when the works are complete, if sooner.
Restriction and location: Mossylea Close: a section has been temporarily closed. The closure begins 33 metres north west of the junction with Andover Avenue and ends at the turning area outside numbers 2–10 Mossylea Close.


Heywood: temporary local road closures and restrictions

There are no planned roadworks in Heywood.
 


Pennines: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Pennines
Reason: To repair an electrical fault in the road and pavement

Expected start and finish: Monday 24 February 2025 – Monday 17 March 2025 or when complete, if sooner.
Restriction and location: Albert Street: a section has been temporarily closed. The closure begins at the junction with Newhey Road and ends at a point 24 metres away in a north easterly direction.
Alternative route: Newhey Road, Charles Lane, Wellington Street and Albert Street.

Area: Pennines
Reason: To repair a water leak in Cedar Lane

Expected start and finish: Saturday 1 March 2025 – Saturday 22 March 2025, or when works are complete if sooner.
Restriction and location: Cedar Lane: a section is temporarily closed. The closure begins at the junction with Laburnum Lane and ends 64 metres away in a south westerly direction.
Alternative route: Laburnum Lane, Sycamore Avenue and Cedar Lane.

Area: Pennines
Reason: To install new electrical services in the road and pavement on William Street

Expected start and finish: Monday 24 March 2025 – Tuesday 1 April 2025
Restriction and location: William Street: a section will be temporarily closed. The closure will begin at the junction with Butterworth Street and end 50 metres away in an easterly direction.
Alternative route: Butterworth Street, Featherstall Road and Stubley Mill Road.
