Rochdale skier continues run of success in France

Date published: 20 January 2014

Rochdale skier, eleven year old Daisi Daniels, has won two gold medals and one silver in the Anglo Scottish Cup.

Daisi, who recently finished top at the British Indoor Ski championships in the under 14s Ski Cross category and under 12s Indoor SL category, continued her winning streak in France.

The Anglo Scottish Cup, held annually at Les Houches, took place between the 4 and 7 January and consisted of three events.

The first event on the 5 January saw Daisi take second in the Anglo Scottish Bairns Combi. Despite being in the lead after the first run, Daisi made a small mistake on the second run that cost her the win by just 0.13 milliseconds.

Daisi claimed gold in the Anglo Scottish Bairns Giant Slalom held on the following day and qualified to race in the Super Stars Giant Slalom.

In the final event Daisi had just one run to get her best time and was the first out on the slopes. She finished with a strong time of 1:05.26 to win by three seconds and take her second gold of the competition.

Daisi’s next challenge sees her going to Bormio, Italy in February for the English Championships.

Daisi said: "I would like to thank Beech House School, Chill Factore Manchester and Salomon GB for all their support."
