Freedom of Borough for Hornets

Date published: 18 January 2014

Rochdale Hornets could be handed the freedom of the borough to commemorate their excellent 2013 promotion winning season.

Discussions will take place at the Rochdale Council meeting on Wednesday when council leader Colin Lambert will propose giving the club the honour to mark their recent achievements.

Hornets will be honoured in “recognition of the club having rendered eminent service to the Borough through their distinguished performances in the 2013 season.”

The season saw the club win promotion to the Championship following their play-off final victory versus Oldham Roughyeds, securing their first silverware since 1922.
