Heywood succumb to another darts loss

Date published: 16 January 2014

Heywood’s winless run in the Lancashire Darts Super League Division One stretched to six games as they suffered a home loss to Lancaster on Sunday.

Scott Howarth had given Heywood an early lead when he came from behind to beat Billy Kirkby, but Lancaster drew level as Dave Speak beat Aaron Boyle despite a 180 from Boyle in the second leg.

Greg Pickson gave Heywood the lead again before David Coulton made the score 2-2.

The scores remained neck and neck as Phil Raby and Chris Longhorn won the points for Lancaster and Billy Brooks and Josh Howarth were victorious for Heywood bringing the score to 4-4.

Heywood were to succumb to the in-form Lancaster side in the final stages however as Paul Langford went down 3-0 to Matt Raby and John Kelly was defeated by Chris Stobbart.

With this defeat leaving Heywood without a win in six matches, they’ll be looking to turn their form around with a trip to Wigan Boro a week on Sunday (26 January).

Elsewhere in the borough on that Sunday Heywood’s Division One rivals Littleborough have a home clash versus Wigan Central. Premier Division outfit Castleton welcome West Craven to the Castleton Moor Conservative Club and in Division Three Middleton travel to Heysham.
