Success at Middleton Trampolining Club

Date published: 11 July 2013

Middleton Trampolining Club is hoping its success continues after one of their members received the Young Citizen of the Year award.

The winner of the award was Jodie Kushner who was nominated after she took a step back in her own efforts in trampolining to coach disabled children. This has proved to be vital in integrating disabled students into the club.

Other members were nominated after overcoming a variety of problems to get more involved with the club.

Lisa Lee, a coach at Middleton Trampolining Club said: “I got quite emotional when they announced Jodie as being Young Citizen of the Year.

“She deserves to have some recognition it after putting the training needs of others ahead of her own.”

The club has always been open to everyone and all of the nominations proved this. One amazing example is Reece Taylor who received an award for outstanding performance in trampolining, despite suffering from autism and being deaf and visually impaired.

Lisa added: “Reece is passionate and lots of fun. He’s a valued member of the group and is one of the few people with his disabilities to take part in major events.”

Another example is Kallum Roberts who is involved with coaching younger children despite suffering from Autism.

Lisa has always thought coaching was important: “I’ve also encouraged members of the club to get involved with the club.

“I don’t what them to see any disabilities they have to stop them getting involved. This is why I have encouraged Kallum and many others to get involved with coaching.”
