One of the incidents reported took place in Falinge Park, Rochdale
Police arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of harassment yesterday (Wednesday 19 February 2025) after several reports made by women in Rochdale.
The reports are of a man hiding in bushes before jumping out, sometimes indecently exposing himself, following women asking for sexual favours, or showing women indecent text messages on his phone. The latest reported incident was on Wednesday in Falinge Park, Rochdale shortly after 5pm.
In a statement GMP said: "We are aware of social media posts in community groups where people are speaking about these incidents and their own potential experiences – we are now asking anyone who believes they have information about circumstances like the above, or believes they have been a victim themselves, to contact us.
Detective Sergeant Hannah Havard said, “We understand how concerning it is hearing of incidents of this nature, and I would like to provide reassurance that these are typically very rare. We have made a swift arrest this afternoon and that individual remains in custody for questioning.
“At the moment we have had a total of four reports, but believe there could be more victims out there who we want to hear from. The incidents reported so far are being treated as a linked series and are being taken extremely seriously.
“We want to ensure that everyone feels safe using Rochdale's open and public spaces, and have extra officers patrolling to provide reassurance, whilst our investigation continues to progress.”
Information can be reported directly to Rochdale CID on 0161 856 8519. Alternatively, you can contact via 101 quoting log 2333 of 19/02/25 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.
