Nominate your local sporting heroes

Date published: 02 July 2013

There are only 24 days remaining for you to nominate your local sporting heroes.

If you know a 'person' or 'club' that has made a difference through sport in your neighbourhood or community, then nominate them today for the Rochdale Borough Sports Awards 2012/2013.

The categories for nomination are:

  • Club of the Year
  • Coach of the Year
  • Disabled Sports Achiever of the Year
  • Sports Achiever of the Year
  • Volunteer in Sport of the Year
  • Unsung Hero in Sport Award
  • Changing Lifestyle Recognition Award - nominations form

Nominations should cover achievements during the period August 2012 - July 2013.

The criteria is set on the quality of the nomination and not the number of nominations each individual gets. Individuals and clubs can nominate themselves.

Julie Durrant, Community Sports Development Officer of Link4Life, said: "We have many sports clubs and volunteers in the borough who improve people's lives and many talented athletes, so we want to make sure they get the recognition they deserve."

Winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony at the Rochdale Rugby Union Club on Wednesday 18 September 2013, 7pm-10.30pm, and they will then go on to be considered for the Greater Manchester Sports Award to be held on Friday 8 November 2013 at The Point, Lancashire Cricket Club in Manchester.
