Rochdale Premier Cricket League – week 9 round up

After long Christmas break all the teams are rearing to play again this week. Good wins for Thornham CC, RYCC, and Rochdale Lions. Unique kept the first position with an easy win against Punjab.

First match of the day was between Rochdalians and Max 11. Rochdalians batted first and made 132 runs in their 8 overs. Good batting from Asif 36 runs (not out) and Imran 32 runs (not out). Not a good response from Max 11, only made 87 runs and lost the match by 36 runs. Apart from Bari 25 runs and captain Sajjad 17 runs (not out) none of the other batsmen contributed much towards the total.

Second match was won by RYCC against Bury Panthers by 27 runs. RYCC batted first and scored 124 runs in their 8 overs. Good batting from Guffran 30 runs (not out), Siddique 23 runs and Cpatian Shakeel 19 runs (not out). In response Bury Panthers could only score 97 runs and lost the match. Good bowling from Guffran taking 2 wickets for 7 runs and Ashfaq 2 wickets for 11 runs.

Next match was between Paradise Stars and Amazing 8. Amazing 8 failed to turn up and 2 points were awarded to Paradise Stars. With these 2 points Paradise Stars kept the 2nd position in the league.

An easy win for 8 Stars against 8 Lions, 8 Stars batted first and made 123 runs in their 8 overs. Good bating from Bukhari 36 runs (not out) and Waleed 25 runs. good bowling from 8 Lions captain Jada taking 2 wickets for 16 runs and Javaid (Wiqi) 1 wicket for 12 runs. not a good response from 8 Lions and lost the match by 31 runs. only Saleem 24 runs and Athar 21 runs scored runs and none of the other batsmen contributed much.

Next match was between Thornham C C and Speed Stars. Speed Stars batted first and made 86 runs in their 8 overs. Poor batting from Speed Stars batsmen, apart from Khan 26 runs and Butt 15 runs none of the other batsmen made any runs. Thornham responded well and won the match by 5 wickets. Good batting from James 32 runs (not out), and Danny 8 runs.

Another easy win for Unique against Punjab. It was one sided match Punjab batted first and scored 38 runs. Good bowling from Ali taking 2 wickets for 1 run and captain Asif 1 wicket for 0 run. Unique won the match by 7 wickets and 5 overs remaining.

Last match of the day was between Rochdale Lions and Lahore Rangers. Rochdale Lions batted first and made 115 runs in their 8 overs. Good batting from Zubair 30 runs (not out) and Hafiz Abdur Rehman 20 runs. Good bowling from Adil taking 2 wickets for 4 runs and Numan 2 wickets for 11 runs. Good response from Lahore Rangers but lost the match by 18 runs due to losing wickets in regular interval. Adil scored 30 runs (not out) and Numan 21 runs.
