Illegal vapes and counterfeit tobacco seized in police operation

Officers from Greater Manchester Police's Neighbourhood Teams, alongside Rochdale Borough Council Trading Standards, conducted a joint operation targeting businesses on Drake Street in Rochdale town centre last week.
During the operation, a significant quantity of counterfeit goods was seized, including 12,530 cigarettes, 7.3kg of hand-rolled counterfeit tobacco, and multiple vapes. The total value of the seized items is estimated at around £12,000.
Additionally, officers seized approximately £4,000 in cash under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
One male individual was arrested during the operation on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, highlighting the multi-faceted nature of the crackdown.
The operation underscores the ongoing efforts by local authorities to tackle crime and protect the community in Rochdale, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of residents and businesses alike.
