The tag rugby team came second at Manchester's Street Games
Sport City in Manchester last week held the annual Street Games competition which saw a number of boroughs across the North West compete in a number of sports to become Street Games champions.
Rochdale’s Tag Rugby League team reached the final where they were beaten by a strong Oldham team, which had been playing together for a number of seasons.
The team were very impressive saying they were only told that they would be playing Tag on the way to the event, they produced some great Rugby and some impressive results against the likes of Liverpool, Blackburn and Darwin and Chorley.
Coach Danny Pyke said: “The way the team represented themselves throughout out the day both on and off the field was very impressive.
“To say some of the children had never touched a rugby ball before the day to come second behind a deserved winner in Oldham was a real good effort by everyone involved.
“The team should be very proud in what they achieved.”
The team was chosen by taster sessions that ran in the three weeks leading up to the event ran by link4life staff at various venues around the Heywood area.
