Hornets 60 - 26 South Wales Scorpions

Date published: 05 September 2010

Hornets put in a superb first half performance running South Wales Scorpions ragged scoring try after try to lead at half time by 38 points to 4 in the Co-operative Championship preliminary semi-final at Spotland.

Wayne English opened the scoring with a try just minutes after the start of the game. Crook converted and went on to kick ten more goals as well as score a try.

The second half was even with the Scorpions finally putting together a few creditable moves and reigning in the ill-discipline that had cost them in the first half.

Hornets had lifted off the gas knowing they had done enough in the first half to win the game but were still more than a match for a disappointingly poor Scorpions side.

Full time score was Hornets 60, South Wales Scorpions 26.

Hornets number 13 Craig Ashall was named man-of-the-match.
