Mayfield v Milford preview

Date published: 03 September 2010

Milford Marlins will make the trip over the Pennines to the Mayfield Sports Centre tomorrow (Saturday 4 September 2010) where they face a Mayfield side buzzing with confidence and raring to get the season kicked off.

Hopefully all the hard work put in during the closed season will pay dividends and Mayfield will collect the two points on offer this afternoon.

The coaching staff and players alike have worked overtime with the first team squad putting in three sessions a week for the last couple of months so there can be no excuses.

Butterworth is expecting good things from his team this season after the strong finish to the last campaign and a promotion spot is what he and the rest of the team are looking at.

With a full squad to select from the coaching staff are confident that come five o’clock it will be all smiles and a job well done.

Milford finished in the bottom half of the table last season but have recruited well so a good game is on the cards as is usually the case with these two teams.

Sponsors for this opening game are Dean Hartley and friends, Advantage Construction, and Zone One Electrical Supplies.

Match ball sponsors are Unique Sports. Mayfield would also like to take this opportunity to extend an invitation to all sponsors, calendar and programme advertisers, to attend a pre match hospitality in the members lounge today where the club will be providing refreshments and a buffet lunch in appreciation of their support to the club.

The seconds are also a team brimming with confidence at this stage, training has gone well pre season with Leon Ashworth welcoming the experienced Marvin Connolly to the coaching staff “Marvin will be a great asset to the club,” said Ashworth.

Saturday sees the A team travelling to Bamber Bridge where they recorded an impressive victory at the end of last season. Like the first team they will be going into the clash full of confidence and hoping to bring back the Two points and the campaign of to winning start.
