Player of the year nomination for Dawson

Rochdale AFC defender Craig Dawson has been nominated for the North West League Two player of the year at this year’s MBNA North West Football Awards.

The awards ceremony is one of the football calenders’ most prestigious events and takes place in October.

Dawson, 20, is up against Andrew Procter of Accrington Stanley, Ryan Lowe of Bury, Ashley Westwood of Crewe, Carl Tremarco of Macclesfield and Barry Roche of Morecambe.

The awards will celebrate footballing talent and the commercial, marketing and professional services expertise that contributes to its teams’ successes.

A panel of expert judges, including PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor, will acknowledge the outstanding achievements of the North West’s football clubs, in awards to be presented at the glittering gala dinner.
