Rugby club appeals for girls to get involved
Date published: 18 August 2010
Mayfield Rugby Club is appealing for more girls to get involved with the sport.
The club is seeking girls aged between 11 and 16 who may be interested in playing rugby to give the game a go.
A spokesperson for the club said: “We have a fantastic set up with fantastic facilities and any girls who come down will be made more than welcome.
“We have two excellent, qualified female coaches and ex professional Tony Hilton putting his considerable weight behind the venture but we still need more girls to participate if the club is going to make a success of girls rugby.
“If you’re not sure about the game or the level of contact involved don’t worry come down to the Mayfield Sports Centre and check it out you’ve got nothing to lose and an awful lot to gain.
“Who knows you could go all the way and be Rochdale’s next international player, at the very least you’ll meet new friends and have a great time and get fit in the process.
The spokesperson concluded: “So come on parents sick of seeing your daughter sat in front of the telly or the computer give her a nudge and get her down to Mayfield it could be just what she’s looking for and you could enjoy it too.”
Training is 6.00 till 7.00 on Tuesday evenings at Mayfield Sports Centre OL11 3AG
