Mayfield v Waterhead preview
Date published: 20 August 2010
Mayfield coach Sam Butterworth gets his first chance to run the rule over his team tomorrow (Saturday 21 August 2010) as they make the short trip to Oldham where they take on Waterhead in a friendly.
Mayfield finished last season on a high and with a bit more luck they could have been pushing for a promotion spot.
Consolidation was the aim and the coaching staff and players all feel this was achieved and are confident that this will be improved upon in the upcoming season.
Mr Butterworth said: “This game is all about measuring where we’re up to and how far we’ve come since the whistle blew to end last season and I feel we have improved considerably.”
The team will be sporting their new kit sponsored by Rentruck, Recruitment Solutions NWL and Try Assist also as a first this season the kit will carry the Springhill Hospice logo as Mayfield show their support for this local charity.
On the way back from today’s game the coach will be stopping off at local pubs who have generously offered their financial backing to the club, so the players and supporters alike are asked to dig deep and give something back because without these sponsors none of this would be possible.
